I had the most fortunate opportunity to grow up in Sri Lanka - surrounded by gems, and a multigenerational family of artisanal colored stone miners. I hadn't considered Gemology as a career, until I enrolled in a gemology diploma a few years back (for fun!)...and just like that, I was obsessed. My obsession is now shaping up to become a career. At present, I live in New York City, I'm a Graduate Gemologist (GIA), employed with Tiffany&Co.
